Yesterday, Amazon announced the official dates for this year’s Prime Day sale. The event will take place from October 13 (from midnight), until October 14, which is just a few weeks before Black Friday.
What is Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon’s sale event dedicated to all its Prime loyalty program members, which allows users to benefit from free-shipping and it also gives access to Prime Video, Prime Music and other streaming services owned by Amazon. Since 2019, the event lasts for 48 hours and it is usually held during the summer to stimulate shopping during the slower months of the year, but with the ongoing pandemic Amazon decided to move it in October for the current year.
In Which Countries is Prime Day Available?
Prime Day 2020 will take place in the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Singapore, Mexico, Spain, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Australia. It will also be the first year in which Turkey and Brazil will participate as well.
Why Prime Day Matters for Businesses
Prime Day is a major event and for any brand that sells its products online, participating in the sale event should be a strategic priority.
There are currently 150 million members worldwide and the company generated sales from 175 million products sold last year during Prime Day. This makes for a very big opportunity for businesses who want to get more online exposure and boost their sales for Q4.
If you are currently selling on Amazon, there are many aspects to consider when participating in Prime Day, as you can read in our blog about how to make the most of Amazon Prime day for sellers.
If, on the other hand, you are currently not selling on Amazon you should really consider it as a new channel for your brand to improve its worldwide visibility and to get more traffic to your products.
