Search used to mean Google. Now it means organic results, paid placements and AI answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews. We have just upgraded our own site and this is the thinking behind it.
Changing Search Landscape
People still search on Google, they still click paid results and they still buy from the brands they find there. What has changed is that a growing share of buyers now put their question first to an AI tool (whether that’s ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google’s AI Overviews) before they reach a traditional results page at all. Search now runs across three surfaces at once: organic, paid and AI.
That is where most brands quietly lose ground: in the space between surfaces.
When organic, paid and AI are run as separate briefs by separate teams, it is easy to lose knowledge and data in the gaps. The shopping feed built for Google may not be aligned to how an AI model reads a catalogue. Paid budget can push demand to pages that AI answers never surface. Each channel looks healthy in its own report, while the brand’s overall impact slips in between. That is where visibility tends to leak, in the gaps between search, paid and AI.
Our Response
We spend a lot of time telling clients to treat their presence as one connected system rather than a stack of separate projects. It seemed only fair to do the same to our own site. So we upgraded it, and it is a real step up from what we had before.
The work that helps Google understand and rank a page is largely the same work that helps an AI model understand, trust and cite it. Both reward a page that makes clear who is behind it, what first-hand experience it draws on and why it can be trusted. Google has a name for this, E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness), but the plain version is credibility. Both reward clean structure and the behind-the-scenes markup that spells out what a page is actually about. We did that work once, properly, and it now serves both organic and AI visibility.
Paid sits alongside this as its own discipline. A page built to convert a paid click has a different job from one built to be found and cited and we treated it that way rather than forcing one page to do both.
New Look, Same Global Ambition
Whilst we proudly celebrate the website redesign, this doesn’t change what makes us uniquely-GA – our in-house team. The people doing the day to day work for our clients are experienced specialists working in 18 languages, as native speakers, so a brand’s visibility holds up in every market.
We also watch where brands are being cited in AI answers and where they are missing, so the gap is something we can see instead of assuming.
That combination is also what lets us join organic and AI cleanly on our own site. One team owned both, so nothing fell into the space between them.
Summary
The new site is live and we are proud of it. We cared about how it looks and performs and we think it shows. The reason we could close the gap between our own organic and AI visibility is that one team owned the whole picture at once.
